Hi! I’m Paul. I’m also known as Icy Pixels. I’ve been involved with WordPress ever since the early days of version 1.0. For the past two years I’ve been designing and developing WordPress themes for a huge range of clients. I take pride in my work and I always try to deliver the best solution possible for my client, providing value at the same time.

I’m really humbled to say that my products have been used by over 3,000 creative and awesome people over this time. Working at Icy Pixels has been a great journey and I plan to take it to even further heights, while adhering to my work ethic and following the WordPress core philosophy. I’ve learnt (maybe the hard way) that it is better to focus on quality products rather than quantity. I spent hours or even weeks, tweaking the small details, the ones which probably no one will ever see (or so I thought). I am fiercely dedicated to provide quality support for my products, as I believe the first release of a product is just a small step towards a better product. I always try to improve my themes and keep them up to date with the latest WordPress versions.

While I tried to work my own way on the WordPress theme business, the ThemeForest marketplace has complicated itself a lot. Everyone is embedding two page builders, five sliders and six contact forms in their themes in order to provide more value for the money. While I’m guilty of trying the same technique in order to improve my sales, that wasn’t the case. I didn’t get buyers to my themes because they wanted the theme, but because they wanted the plugins embedded in it. So I shifted away from this practice and I started to provide simple, easy to use themes, which in fact provide support and are compatible with lots of plugins. So instead of embedding those plugins and functionalities inside the theme itself, I started to just provide compatibility with certain plugins. This technique proved to be vastly successful, most notably with one of my political themes, called Parlament (which is the Romanian word for Parliament).

I also had a lot of fun creating the theme Paper, which is a simple and easy to use blogging theme, which does just what it says on the label: it enables you to have a simple blog and expose your articles. It is extremely easy to manage and it is as close the the core WordPress as possible. All my recent themes are using the features of the Theme Customizer or the Customizer as some of you may know it, which is a part of the WordPress Core since WP 3.4 if I remember correctly.

I believe that I already carved my own niche with the help of the political themes, which proved to be quite successful. Also, I got immense satisfaction after getting emails after emails from my beautiful customers, telling me that they are extremely happy with their websites and the website enabled them to win the political race they were in. And there weren’t just clients from USA. I had mayors, senators, governors in France, Canada, Brazil, Germany and a whole lot more. How about that for something fulfilling? Knowing that your work was the one that helped other people succeed. It’s a nice feeling, I have to say.

While creating and supporting these products, I interacted with a plethora of amazing people and I created lots of new friendships. I’m extremely thankful and grateful for that.

What I’m planning to do in the future?

I’m planning to expand the horizon of IcyPixels. I believe I can further improve my knowledge by sharing the steps I’ve taken in my journey, my own experiences which will serve as a learning material for some and some self-discovery for me. I’m going to try and further hone my design skills while sharing with you the progress. I’ll further expand in the political category providing out of the box solution which will work just right for you. I will try to improve my products so they will require a minimum amount of support from my side, by improving the documentation, the knowledge base and the support system.

Thank you for being a part of this impressive journey and for your continuous support! May God bless us all in order to achieve what we desire in life.
